The Secret of Lombok island has secretly preserved its timeless culture in the day to day life of its inhabitants. Right in the heart of Sasak Country, many excursions can be organized in the near proximity of our property to delight your senses and leave lasting impressions in your memory.

Volcano Rinjani mountain, Narmada temple compound with its artificial lake in the shape of Segara Anak in the crater of the Rinjani volcano, white sand beaches and spectacular snorkeling and scuba diving - Senggigi, Gili siland such as Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan. Kuta beach is famous for "Nyale" (fluorescent worms) that come to the surface in February or March, spectacular white sand beaches is Mawun, Selongblanak, Kuta. There are lost of Hindu-Balinese temples scattered around (mostly) western Lombok . You have two choices to discover the beauty of Lombok.

Senggigi is the most developed area for tourists on Lombok. You can find a variety of restaurants, bars, discotheques, travel agents, photo processors, money changers, souvenir shop and a range of accommodations starting from budget losmens to 5 star hotels. The town of Senggigi spreads out along nearly 10 kilometers of coastal road. This road continues north to Bangsal, the port for the Gili Islands. Along the way be in store for winding turns, steep hills, and a fantastic scenery of the coast. Say hello to the friendly kids playing in the villages along the way.

Restaurants and small cafes line the colorful main beach road. Swimming off the beach is safe. Most visitors to Lombok usually start their stay at Senggigi, Lombok's oldest and most famous resort area.

Gili Trawangan is the most popular of the three islands. The main road is just a semi-paved footpath running up the length of one side of the island and can be walked in about 15 minutes. The beach side of the road has several restaurants while the other side is lined with little cafes and restaurants, flash looking dive shops, hotels and losmens, travel agents and shops selling bits and pieces. The beach looking out towards Gili Meno is the best for sunbathing as it's a lovely long wide stretch of white sand.

Gili Trawangan seems to be the kind of sleepy island that has a surreal, dreamy atmosphere where days passby, nothing gets done and stresses melt away. Some people intend to visit for a couple of days and end up spending weeks there! At night the bars liven up a little and play the latest Hollywood movies where the viewers just crash on huge cushions on the floor. There's often a 'party' at one of the bars too. Gili Trawangan is definitely on my recommended list of places to go for several days.

West Lombok - The earliest recorded society on Lombok was relatively small kingdom of the Sasaks. The Sasak peoples were agriculturalists and animists who practised ancestor and spirit worship. The original Sasaks are believed to have come overland from north-west India or Myanmar(Burma) in waves of migration that predated most Indonesian ethnic group. Few relic remain from the old animist kingdoms, and the majority of Sasaks today are Muslim, although animism has left its mark on the culture.

West Lombok is the first stepping stone on your journey into the eastern islands.

West Lombok has both the lushness of Bali and the starckness of outback Australia. The northwest of the island is dominated by the 3,726m Rinjani volcano, while the southwest is arid and covered by savannas.

Famous for its basketware, pottery and ikat handwoven textiles, Lombok has exceptional charm and is relatively undiscovered, except for Sengiggi and the Gili islands that have become popular tourism areas. We visit traditional villages and a local market in search for rare pieces of handicraft.

KUTA BEACH - The best known place on the south coast is Lombok's Kuta (sometimes spelt "Kute"), a magnificent althugh deserted stretch of white sandy beach with rugged hilld rising around it. It has far fewer tourists or facilities then Senggigi Beach, and retains a rural feel, with water buffalo grazing in the streets of the main losmen area.

The main attractions are the surrounding surf beats and craft villages. If these don't interest you don't go out of your way to come to laze on the beach here. The local beach sellers are extremely annoying and often quite persistant.

The best time to visit is in February or March when crowds flock here for the Nyale fishing celebration.
