Bali is one of the thousands islands constructing the Indonesian Archipelago that has long been famous as a leading tourist destination in South Pacific or even in the world for its exotic and vibrant art and culture, natural beauties and the hospitality of the people.

It covers an extent of 5,632.86 square kilometers consisted of mountain range stretches from the West tip to the East. Hinduism is adhered by almost 95% of its population of more than 3 millions people, specifically blended with Buddhism and the Ancestor's worship. It is made inseparable from everyday life and no opportunity is missed to worship Gods in an unending series of ceremony stretches from birth up to after death.

The Conducive environment in Bali is supported by the Balinese philosophy of life, called "Tri Hita Karana". Tri Hita Karana dictates that happines can only be achieved if there are hamonious relationship between human and Gods; between human and their community; and between human and nature (its surronding). This philosophy has become a way of life among the Balinese, and is practiced in their daily life.

Bali has such a mild and agreeable climate the wholeYear round, with average temperature of the day in coastal areas varies from about 28C (82F) during May-July to abut 30C (86F) in March-October, while the most pleasant weather is between May-September.

Many nicknames have been given to this small island, such as : island of Thousand Temples, Morning of the World, Paradise Island, Island of Gods and many others. The latest nickname that has been given during the 51"PATA Annual" Conference 2002 in India for Bali is "The island of Peace"

NUSA DUA is an exclusive resort area featuring pristine beaches and majestic palms overlooking a turquoise sea. This purpose-built development is a peaceful enclave where families can relax and enjoy a tropical paradise and the Balinese hospitality, all without having to venture far from their luxurious rooms. The Bali Golf and Country Club is only a few steps away and the International Airport is a mere 20-minute drive from Nusa Dua.

TANJUNG BENOA is situated north of Nusa Dua and offers a wide variety of water sports including water skiing, parasailing, jet skiing and wind surfing. Arrays of fun filled beach recreation activities are always only a short walk away. Tanjung Benoa is surrounded by houses of a sleepy fishing village and is proud of its clear waters and white sandy beaches. The village is just 15 minutes away from the International Airport.

JIMBARAN is a quiet fishing village between the resort area of Nusa Dua and the legendary Kuta Beach. It has a dazzling white-sand beach that is considered to be one of Bali's most beautiful beaches. The village is popular with families for its gentle tides, dramatic sunsets and numerous beach front seafood restaurants. Jimbaran is a 10 minutes drive away from the International Airport.

KROBOKAN - Merging into the north of Seminyak, Kerobokan is an enchanting place with beautiful contrasts. On one side, the wild surf crashes onto the golden sand beach and the towering coconut trees disappear into the mist. Inland, another world exists with rice paddies, the odd cow and well-weathered farmers. Kerobokan is a perfect place to reflect on life, go for long works along the beach in the cool of the morning and just relax around the hotel.
Kerobokan is home to some of the finest restaurants in Bali, including the open-air La Lucciola, which serves Italian cuisine in a beachfront location and the newly opened fine-dining Ku de Ta. Bookings are pretty much essential at both of these restaurants. If dinner at Ku de Ta is outside your budget, a divine breakfast in a divine setting is all yours for about ten kiwi dollars. There's not much in the way of shops, but a short drive will take you to Seminyak, Legian and Kuta where you can shop til you drop. There are some deluxe hotels here, namely The Legian and The Oberoi, which offer exceptional standards in accommodation and service. Good value hotels are available of varying standard and size, most of them beachfront too.

UBUD is a remarkable town in the middle of the island of Bali. For more than a century, it has been the island's preeminent centre for fine arts, dance and music. While it once was a haven for scruffy backpackers, cosmic seekers, artists and bohemians, Ubud is now a hot spot for literati, glitterati, art collectors and connoisseurs. Famous names walk its busy sidewalks everyday.

Elegant five star hotels and sprawling mansions now stand on its outskirts, overlooking the most prized views in Bali. Nonetheless, Ubud is still popular with backpackers, mystics and all the finest fringe elements of global society. Ubud is not "ruined". Its character is too strong to be destroyed. It still draws people who add something; people who are actively involved in art, nature, anthropology, music, dance, architecture, environmentalism, "alternative modalities," and more.
Ubud is arguably the best place to use as a base if you're visiting Bali; if you're looking for culture, comfort, nature and inspiration. Ubud is surrounded by most of the things that bring people to Bali -- scenic rice fields, small villages, art and craft communities, ancient temples, palaces, rivers, cheap accommodation and unique luxury hotels. And it's central location makes it easy to get from Ubud to the mountains, beaches, and major towns.

SANUR is traditionally a fishing village and has managed to keep that lazy-town feeling. This really makes Sanur a unique area and unlike most other beach areas in Bali, Sanur has stayed largely in local hands. The main street is lined with a mix of quaint little shops selling Bali knick-knacks and the trendy label clothing shops, slow paced restaurants that have a real Balinese atmosphere and various types of accommodation.
Sanur beach is sheltered by a reef which is surfable when there's a good swell and there is also the chance for a bit of a snorkel. During low tide, it's really too shallow to swim but it's still quite beautiful with an abundance of coconut palms, gold sand and a great paved walking track running along the beach. High tide turns the beach into a fun place of water sports and swimming.
Sanur is a good place for families who are looking for a safe beach for the kids to swim at and for couples that want to get away from the crowds but don't want to be isolated.

TANAH LOT , Located in Tabanan, just across the boundary of Badung regency, Tanah Lot is the most well-known and photographed temple.

The temple is built on a small promontory, which is only accessible by foot at low tide. Take a scarf and dress with respect.

Poisonous snakes live in the nearby caves to guard the temple from the intruders and contribute to the temple 'dangerous' reputation. Sunset is the best time to visit Tanah Lot, when the golden red skies frame the temple and the waves crash into the rocks.

A truly remarkable and feature temple, Tanah Lot is built on a stony narrow piece of terrain, which the high tides transform into an island, making right of entry from the land impossible.

It is particularly reminiscent at sunset when the illumination, at times a slender thread and others, a dazzling spark, springs back the waves. The beach around Tanah Lot is less comfortable for swimming but great for horse riding and watching spectacular sunset. Although surfing can be done in this area but it's recommended not for beginner.

JEMBRANA is perhaps the most ethnically heterogeneous regency in Bali. The Loloan area is populated by a malay-speaking populace of Bugis descent. There are also many Balinese Christians, because part of Jembrana was converted to Catholicism and Protestantism at the start of the century. Also there are plenty of traditional Balinese communities, particularly in the rice-growing areas of the regency.

The natural scene is no less varied than the cultural one. The northern half of Jembrana contains a large mountainous regions, which is part of West Bali National Park. West Bali National Park is situated in two regencies, Jembrana and Buleleng. The entrance on the Jembrana side of the park is at Melaya on the Denpasar-Gilimanuk road. Visit this place if you're looking for pristine tropical nature. The park is the last natural habitat of the endangered jalak putih-fewer than fifty are believed to be left in the wild, where they are threatened by poaching. The park is also home to banteng and the deer-like menjangan. The National Park contains a broad range of natural environments, from mangrove coastal forests to savanna and rainforests.

To enter The National Park one must first go to the park office in Cekik. Experienced guides in the office offer trekking, diving and snorkeling tours, but diving and snorkeling on the Jembrana side of the National Park are not recommended for beginners. Jembrana is best known for the Makepung traditional buffalo races. The regency even calls itself "the land of the Makepung". The Makepung was originally held as part of the harvest festivities. The carts and buffaloes were, until quite recently, still used for transportation. The Makepung consists of a race between two carts pulled by water buffaloes. The colourfully decorated animals race on a 2km course. These days, championship events are organized under the sponsorship of the local government, which uses the race to help promote tourism.

In Perancak, a race can be arranged to order. If you like, you can be your own jockey! There is small temple of white stones to commemorate the landing of Sang Hyang Nirartha. A crocodile farm commemorates the now extinct Perancak crocodile. Indeed, a small zoo houses crocodiles, tigers, jalak putih, the phoenix bird of paradise, and many more.
Besides the Makepung race, there is a cow race called Magembeng. The name originates from the gembeng bell the cows carry around their necks. As they walk, the bell makes a sound producing a special kind of music. The megembeng competition is not so much about speed as about the elegance and beauty of the cows.

Further south, at Candikusuma, there are two temples dedicated to the legendary figure of Dang Hyang Nirartha- Indra Kusuma temple and Taman Sumur Bulus. Locals tell how in 1897 two Dutch officers were attracted to the place when they saw a light coming from the earth. It turned out to be a kris (a supernatural dagger). Candikusuma beach is known for its beautiful black sand and the gentle hills permeating the beach.

Inland from Melaya are the paralleled Christian communities of Palasari (catholic) and Blimbingsari (Protestant), built at the beginning of the century in a settlement area for Balinese who had converted to Christianity. The villagers are surrounded by hills and paddy fields. Their uniqueness, however, lies in the cultural cocktail present in the churches, which mix both Gothic and Balinese architectural styles.

Delodbrawah Beach is a black sand beach, which used to be a swamp (brawah), believed to be a favorite crocodile haunt. Believe it or not, the sand from this beach is said to cure rheumatism. To the north of the beach is Mendoyo, Negara. There is one of the best racing grounds here for the Makepung which can still be used in the rainy season.

Rambutsiwi Temple is on a cliff overlooking a breathtaking panorama of paddy fields on one side and the black sandy beach on the other. Stairs allow people to get safely down on to the beach. Two caves overlook the sea with a view of the fishermen's boats and seabirds hovering above. This spot is a favorite hangout for painters. The temple itself was built by Dang Hyang Nirartha. According to the legend, he made a gift of his hair to the temple. Hence the name Rambut Siwi, which literally means "Hair Worship"!

Medewi beach is a small resort in the southeast of Jembrana about midway between Gilimanuk and Denpasar, just off the main road at Airsatang. Small black stones are scattered over the black sandy beach, providing an unusual scene at sunset.

PEMUTERAN
Pemuteran, it was more or less the same as Lovina, while Pemuteran area is more closer to Menjangan island. The development of diving activity put Menjangan island even as popular as Tulamben.
Additional advantage to Pemuteran hotels compared to Lovina hotels is that Pemuteran is a perfect base for exploring Bali Barat National Park, famous with it's endemic white starling birds or " Jalak Bali" Today both Lovina and Pemuteran developed various hotels, from very simple Pemuteran hotels, medium Pemuteran hotels up to deluxe Pemuteran hotels. Some medium Pemuteran hotels and deluxe Pemuteran hotels are listed and on-line above. While small Pemuteran hotels or simple Pemuteran hotels and Lovina hotels do not specifically offered to traveler, unless we got a real guarantee that traveler can accept the physical and facility conditions. Central Lovina has the most various and big number of simple hotels. Important note is that both Lovina and Pemuteran have higher temperature and higher moisture level. Pemuteran area has more luxurious hotels such as Matahari Beach, Mimpi Resort, and Aneka Bagus Hotel, while Lovina has only Puri Bagus Hotel. In Pemuteran there is no shop or restaurant nearby the hotels unlike along the area of Lovina where shops, restaurants and some night life are available just meters from hotels

BALI BARAT NATIONAL PARK
Covers around 19,000 hectares of West Bali, home to endemic Bali white starling birds. From Lovina takes 1 hour drive to the office of park head quarter at the road junction at Cekik village. Everyone who want to enter the park must get a permit from the office, and a special guide will be provided. The entrance to the park is at Labuhan Lalang. If only visiting Menjangan island there is no need to get permit at Cekik unless trekking to the forest or the breeding site of white birds. If it is only visiting the Menjangan or diving around Menjangan island it is enough to buy ticket at Labuhan Lalang before embarking the motorized. wooden boat. West Bali Barat National park is believed by the people living near the border of west and Central Bali forest as a lost city, and during the rainy seasons their people will appear to be a beggar in the form of tigers.

MENJANGAN ISLAND
Menjangan island popular diving site in Bali due to it's fine and preserved corals and rich equatic animal, turquoise clear water, and very calm sea. Every divers coming to Bali with the emphasize on diving program in Bali will put Menjangan and Tulamben sites as the priority sites. Menjangan island is unpopulated, but there is an old temple, supposed to originated from 14th century named " Pura Giri Kencana." During the expedition of Majapahit kingdom of Java in 1343 AD, it is believed that a boat was wrecked with their relics are still on sea bed. It is believed to have the magic influence. From Labuhan Lalang to Menjangan island it takes around 45 minutes on the calm sea. Diving gear shops for rent are plenty at Labuhan Lalang, as well as local restaurants and souvenir shops

CANDIDASA is most often compared to Kuta as Kuta was some 15 years ago. The comparison has some merit - Candidasa is a small village with few inhabitants on the beach with a several - mostly inexpensive hotels that cater to more adventurous tourists looking for a more laid back atmosphere. Being some 85 km from the airport ensures some tranquility, however as more people discover that there is quite a bit to see and do in Candidasa the area is developing rapidly with many first class hotels now sprouting up. Besides being near many top dive spots, Candidasa is near many cultural treasures - Pura Besakih and Tenganan Village. For those looking for a holiday off the beaten track a few days in Candidasa would be a welcome respite. Explore our hotel site and find more details of all sort of accommodations in East Bali - Candidasa & Amed Beach Area. Beach area.

AMED is the perfect hideaway for those wanting relaxation. Enjoy a memorable journey through endless scenic villages and countryside. Amed can be reached via Ujung by the back road which winds high above tiny secluded bays where thousands of rainbow coloured "jukung" outriggers rest. Explore the undersea life of the coral reefs, fish with the locals in their pretty outrigger canoes, explore the forest valleys which sweep up the sea to the mountains. Or simply kick back and do nothing!

LOVINA is a quiet beachfront village spanning about 8km on the North Coast of Bali. Nothing much happens here which I guess is an asset is some ways. The nights are quiet; only a few bars and restaurants are open and are few and far between. With it's north-facing vantage point, Lovina gets to see the spectacular sunrise and sunset daily (weather permitting of course).
At first sight, the beach looks unappealing. The sand is black and the sea is calm. Step out in the water and you'll realise that it's clear water that can be snorkelled. At night, the fishing boats come out and with their spot lights hunting for squids (I think it's squid they're looking for).
Dolphins also cruise around these waters and a morning boat trip can be taken to find some. Tickets for the boat ride can be purchased at the hotel or no doubt, someone will try and sell you one.

NUSA LEMBONGAN is situated 12 miles south east of Bali. It is one hour travelling time by boat from Benoa Harbour. This pear shaped island is around 4km long and 2km wide. It is surrounded by a beautiful fringing reef and the waters are renowned for their abundance of life and great surf breaks. The reef has been declared a marine park by the Indonesian authorities. Not only does the reef support its own Eco- system, but it supports most of the villagers on the island as well.
The local people farm seaweed. This seaweed is cultivated, harvested then exported all over the world for use in cosmetics, food stabilizers and medicines. Other sources of income include traditional wooden boat building, farming peanuts, sweet potato crops, and fishing. Village life is very slow and enchanting. Very few cars and motorbikes are seen on the roads. The people are steeped in tradition, and one could imagine Bali being like this island thirty years ago. Although the island is small there are still things to do. Fishing, diving, surfing, mangrove exploring, discovering natural fresh water springs, underground cave house exploring, cycling around the island. A visit to the bat caves on a nearby island, or a picnic at a dream beach.
The unspoilt and relaxed atmosphere of the island has been maintained and is the islands greatest asset.
